surf and shore fishing on the osa peninsula

“Creating casting memories at the shore”

Surf/shore fishing in Costa Rica is a popular activity for both the locals and tourists alike and almost everyone enjoys this type of fishing. While perhaps not as productive as fishing by boat, this type of fishing is generally consistent throughout the year with the roosterfish being the main attraction. In addition to the roosterfish, you’ll be targeting snook, a couple of different types of snapper, sea bass, jacks, barracuda and needlefish. Anglers have reported being surprised by tarpon being caught in the some of the areas that you may visit.

Crocodile Bay provides guided Surf/Shore Fishing Tours taking you to locations for the best possible action for the species you’re most interested in targeting. Anticipate getting into water that is waist deep. All equipment and tackle is provided. You’re welcome to bring your own lures if you would like; especially if you have that one which has brought you luck in the past. Both half day and full day trips are available. Scheduling in advance is recommended.

Anglers are taken by vehicle to the fishing site(s) beginning at 7:00 am and return to the resort either by 11:30 am (Half Day) or by 3:00 pm (Full Day). A cooler with a picnic style lunch with cold beer, water and other non-alcoholic beverages is included for your full day excursion; and beverages with snacks for your half day excursion.

Depending on your day, you may fish one location or multiple. Some of these locations are only accessible by foot, so keep in mind you’ll be doing some walking. Once you get to your spot, just have fun relaxing while casting for some roosterfish, jacks, snappers and other varieties. You just may be surprised at what you find on the other end of your line.
