When planning your visit to the Osa Peninsula, we recommend scheduling your international flight into San Jose, Cosa Rica where the airport code is SJO. From here we can handle your Costa Rica travel logistics. Upon your arrival, our team will be there to greet you and transfer you to one of San Jose’s newest hotel properties, The Hilton La Sabana. The Hilton La Sabana is located near the city central and is one of the tallest buildings in San Jose which offers stunning views of the city. Enjoy your first night in San Jose.
Arriving Botanika, Osa Peninsula at Crocodile bay
Your adventure begins with a breathtaking 45 minute flight from Costa Rica’s Capital City (San Jose) across lush coffee plantations and the spectacular Talamanca mountain range. During your flight you will experience spectacular views of Central America’s largest coastal rainforest and land in the charming town of Puerto Jimenez where the edge of the rainforest bathes in the warm waters of the Pacific. The Botanika staff will escort you from the airstrip to hotel where you will have a fresh mango/rum cocktail in your hand within minutes. Welcome to paradise!

After a quick orientation by our fishing director and an update on recent fishing activities, you pick your pleasure inshore or offshore. The 800-foot pier is located only 5 minutes from your room. Boats are outfitted with top-of-the-line fishing gear and you are accompanied by professional, English-speaking crew. Daily fishing includes your Costa Rica fishing licenses, gear, bait and an on-board cooler with a picnic style lunch, snacks, cold beer, water and other non-alcoholic beverages.
The Chocolate Tour
You’ll experience a unique opportunity to visit a local farm and learn about how they harvest cocoa beans about the steps for making chocolate. The farm owner will take you through the property introducing you to the different plants and wildlife. You’ll have an opportunity to participate in the making of chocolate and taste the “sweet” results of the process.
Inshore Or Offshore Fishing | 24' Boston Whaler
If your first day was spent offshore hunting for billfish, we encourage you to take a day inshore and pursue the roosterfish, snapper and a multitude of other species that can be found cruising the volcanic shoreline.
Osa Rainforest Tour and a Trip into Puerto Jimenez
Botanika offers shuttles into town a few times of day so you do not miss the opportunity to visit this small vibrant coastal town. Here you’ll find restaurants, café and shops. The US dollar is widely accepted so there’s no reason to exchange any money. After lunch, we’ll be ready to take you into the rainforest. The tropical lowland rainforest is the most species rich land-based ecosystem on Earth. It is a land of enchantment made up of brilliantly colored birds (the Scarlet Macaw and the Chestnut-mandible Toucan), rare mammals (Sloth), four species of monkeys(Howler, White-faced, Spider and Squirrel),along with Peccaries, and wild cats. If you do only one, this is the eco tour we recommend to give you a sense of what the rainforest is all about. Your senses will be heightened as you become one with your surroundings!

Upon your arrival back into San Jose, our team will be waiting to escort you back to the international terminal for your flight home. For a same day connection, schedule your International Departure after 1 pm.

- Botanika Accommodation: 5 Resort nights in a studio with resort meals. Room features: king or 2 queen beds, seating area, small refrigerator, mico and coffee station. Rate includes resort fees and applicable taxes
- 2 Days of World-class Sportfishing: inshore or offshore on the 24' Boston Whaler. You may upgrade any fishing day to the 33' Strike Tower for only $648 per day.
SPORT FISHING CHARTERS INCLUDE: Captain, Costa Rica fishing license, Gear, Bait, Fuel and an on-board cooler filled with a picnic-style lunch, cold beer, water and other non-alcoholic beverages.
Pricing does not include international flights, food and beverage unless stated, gratuities or personal purchases. Additional Eco Tours or Spa treatments may be added to the itinerary for an additional cost. Alcohol may be purchased at the hotel.
